Privacy statement Familieboten
Publication date: 1 November 2026 | Version: 1.0
1. Who we are
Familieboten is a trading name of Mienskip Jachtverhuur VOF, based at Amsteldijk 828, 1079 LM
Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number 80651615. Familieboten acts as an intermediary in boat hire between
guests and independent boat owners. For the processing activities of our own described in this statement, Mienskip
Jachtverhuur is the data controller. You can send any privacy questions to info@familieboten.nl.
2. What data we process
For bookings, we process your name, address, date of birth or age, telephone number, email address,
boat, hire period, booking number, number of travellers, the make-up of your party, any
comments, correspondence, and details of payments and refunds. Via Mollie we may also see
the bank account numbers of payers. We do not ourselves ask for copies of ID documents or
boating licences; a boat owner may separately ask to see a document at the actual handover
of the boat.
Guests can voluntarily enter the names and dates of birth of fellow travellers, including children. We
use this information solely to be able to establish, if necessary in an emergency, who is on board.
Boat owners do not have access to this fellow traveller information by default. We receive the details
of fellow travellers from the main hirer. We ask you to inform them, or in the case of children their parents or guardians, about this
privacy statement. Please do not enter any medical or other special category personal data in the free
comments field, unless this is necessary and has been agreed with us in advance.
Of boat owners and their contact persons, we process, among other things, name, contact details, business
details, IBAN, contracts, invoices, boat and booking information and correspondence.
3. Purposes and legal bases
We process personal data for (a) handling and fulfilling bookings and payments:
performance of a contract or preparatory steps; (b) answering questions and providing
customer service: our legitimate interest in good service, or performance of the
contract; (c) financial administration: legal obligation; (d) complaints, damage, disputes,
security and fraud prevention: our legitimate interest, after weighing the interests involved; (e)
cooperation and settlement with boat owners: contract and, where applicable, legitimate
interest; (f) voluntary details of fellow travellers for safety in emergencies: legitimate interest
in safety; (g) inviting guests to post a review: legitimate interest, subject to
the rules on electronic communications; (h) publishing a review under the
name chosen: consent, which is requested on the review form; and (i) non-essential
analytics and marketing cookies and similar tracking: consent.
The details marked as mandatory on the booking form are needed in order to
handle or fulfil the booking. Without them we may not be able to make a booking

possible. Details of fellow travellers are optional. We do not send newsletters or unsolicited
WhatsApp advertising.
4. Bookzo and the booking environment
For managing bookings we use Bookzo as a processor. Booking data is stored in a separate
database within Microsoft Azure in the West Europe region. Bookzo states that processing takes place within the
European Economic Area, subject to separate agreements. Guests can view their
booking and change certain details by entering their booking number and email address
and then using a verification code received by email.
Familieboten determines the purposes and retention periods of the booking data. Bookzo does not delete
data automatically. Familieboten therefore has data cleaned up periodically in line with the retention periods
set out in section 13.
5. Sharing with boat owners
To perform a hire, we provide the boat owner concerned with the name, address,
telephone number and necessary booking information of the main hirer, via Bookzo or business e-
mail. Boat owners can only see bookings for their own boats in Bookzo. In an emergency, we may
provide details of fellow travellers to the boat owner concerned or to the emergency services, insofar as
this is necessary for the safety of the people involved. For their own performance of the
hire agreement, boat owners are in principle independent data controllers. They may not
use guest data for their own marketing without an appropriate legal basis.
6. Mollie and payments
Payments and refunds are handled via Mollie. The full hire amount is paid to
Familieboten via Mollie; we then settle with the boat owner. In the Mollie dashboard we can view
payment details, including historical IBAN details. For its own payment service, Mollie is
in principle an independent data controller. See Mollie's privacy statement at
mollie.com/privacy.
7. Website, SPARC and contact forms
The website runs on SPARC from Snakeware and is hosted by TransIP in a data centre in the Netherlands.
Snakeware processes technical data such as IP addresses and server information for service provision,
maintenance and security. Bookings are managed in Bookzo and are not stored as a separate
booking database in SPARC.
On the contact form, your name, email address, telephone number and message are mandatory. We use this
data solely to answer or handle your request. The form sends the message
to our business email and also stores form responses in the SPARC CMS. For general enquiries,
we do not keep this data longer than necessary and no longer than two years after the last relevant
contact, unless it forms part of a booking or a dispute for which a different retention period
applies.

8. Email, telephone and WhatsApp
We use Google for business email. Only the legal owners have access to the
Google account concerned, which has two-step verification enabled. We do not record telephone calls;
call data may remain in the normal call history.
For booking questions and customer service we use WhatsApp Business, also to send practical
messages about a booking ourselves. We do not use WhatsApp for offers. We
delete conversations after a maximum of 90 days. End-to-end encrypted iCloud backups are used,
so messages may still temporarily appear in a backup after deletion. WhatsApp/Meta and
Apple also process data in line with their own policies.
9. Reviews
After the hire, Bookzo can automatically send an email with a review request. Guests can post a review
via Google Reviews or Familieboten.nl. Reviews shown on our site are stored in Bookzo.
On the review form we explicitly ask for consent to publish the review and the name
that the guest enters themselves. Once consent is given, they are published publicly and automatically. You can withdraw
your consent for a review on Familieboten.nl via info@familieboten.nl. We may then
delete or anonymise the review.
Reviews on Familieboten.nl generally remain published until the guest withdraws consent or requests
deletion. We may also delete a review earlier, for example if the content is
no longer relevant. Reviews posted directly on Google are also managed by
Google.
10. Cookies and advertising
We use Cookiebot to record cookie preferences. The website uses Google Analytics
4, Google Ads conversion measurement and the Meta Pixel. Non-essential analytics and marketing technologies
are only activated once the required consent has been given. Visitors can
decline and later change or withdraw their choice.
Familieboten uses the Meta Pixel to measure the effectiveness of advertisements on Facebook and Instagram
and to optimise those advertisements. Familieboten and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited are
joint controllers for the collection of personal data via the Meta Pixel and
its transfer to Meta, insofar as this relates to advertising measurement,
ad delivery and optimisation. Our respective responsibilities are set out in Meta's
Controller Addendum (https://www.facebook.com/legal/controller_addendum), in accordance with
Article 26 GDPR. For certain reporting and analytics services, Meta may act as a processor on behalf of
Familieboten. For further processing of personal data for its own purposes, Meta is an independent
data controller. More information about processing by Meta, the applicable
legal bases and exercising your privacy rights can be found in Meta's privacy policy
(https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy). We only use the Meta Pixel after you have given
your consent. You can change or withdraw this consent at any time via our
cookie settings.
The names, providers, purposes, lifespans and categories of cookies are listed in our
separate cookie statement: https://familieboten.nl/cookiebotverklaring.

11. Recipients and service providers
Where necessary, we use Bookzo (bookings and reviews), Snakeware and TransIP (website
and hosting), Mollie (payments), Exact (accounting), Google (email, analytics and advertising), Meta
(advertising and WhatsApp Business), Apple (iCloud backups), Cookiebot (cookie preferences) and the
boat owner concerned. An external bookkeeper or accountant only gets access when they are working for us.
Where a party acts as a processor for us, we put the required
contractual arrangements in place. Employees and freelancers are bound by confidentiality and use
personal accounts for Bookzo.
12. International transfers
Bookzo and Snakeware have stated that the relevant hosting and processing take place within the EEA.
When using Google, Meta, Apple or other service providers, personal data may be
accessible from countries outside the EEA. Where international transfers take place, they are based
on an applicable adequacy decision, including where applicable the EU-US Data Privacy
Framework, or on appropriate safeguards such as the European
Commission's standard contractual clauses. The precise basis depends on the service and the recipient concerned. Further information
can be requested via info@familieboten.nl.
13. Retention periods
We keep booking data and the associated personal data, including voluntarily provided
fellow traveller details, in Bookzo for at least two years after the end of the hire period and
no later than the first annual clean-up after those two years. Each year after the end of
the season we carry out a clean-up. During this clean-up the data is permanently deleted from the active database
(hard delete). The data may then still temporarily remain in secure backups
in line with Bookzo's backup cycle, with a maximum duration of one year according to current
supplier information. For ongoing complaints, damage claims or legal disputes, a longer
retention period may be necessary.
We keep the necessary financial records, including invoices, payment details and relevant
debtor information, separately in Exact for seven years, in line with the tax
retention obligation. Email correspondence with guests, including general enquiries, is kept for
a maximum of two years after the last relevant contact. Documents relevant for tax purposes are kept in Exact for seven years.
WhatsApp conversations are kept for a maximum of 90 days. We keep boat owners' data
for as long as necessary for the cooperation, its settlement and applicable legal
obligations. Reviews generally remain published until the guest withdraws their consent or requests
deletion, as explained in section 9. For ongoing complaints, damage claims, legal
disputes or legal obligations, a longer period may be necessary.
14. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including individual Bookzo
accounts with two-step verification, two-step verification on our Google account, confidentiality agreements,
secured devices and connections, periodic review of access and immediate blocking of
accounts once work has ended. Employees and freelancers delete locally
Familieboten | Privacy statement | Version 1.0
downloaded customer files when they are no longer needed. Our service providers also apply
security measures. Only authorised employees and freelancers have access to
Bookzo.
15. Your rights
Subject to the legal conditions, you can request access to, correction, erasure and
restriction of processing of your personal data, and data portability. You can object to
processing based on legitimate interest and withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal
does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. We do not take any solely
automated decisions with legal effects or similarly significant effects.
Send your request to info@familieboten.nl. We will in principle reply within one month. Where
legally permitted, this period may be extended; we will then inform you in good time. If we have doubts about
your identity, we may ask for appropriate verification. We may or must keep some data despite a
request, for example because of tax obligations.
16. Complaints
For complaints, you can contact us via info@familieboten.nl. You also have the right to lodge a complaint
with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens): autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
17. Changes and versions
We update this privacy statement if our services, working methods or legislation change. The
current version is available at familieboten.nl. In the event of significant changes, we inform those concerned where
required. Previous versions are archived internally.
